Greg Smith Equipment is proud to announce the arrival of the new Direct Lift PP-8S (Standard) four post hobbyist lift. The new Direct Lift PP-8S now carries an Industry tested lifting capacity of 8,000 lbs. This new rating of 8,000 lbs. is a direct result of three months of extensive testing.
Most of our competitors do not TEST their lifts to USA Industry standards. Many of our competitors just publish what they believe is “an approximate weight lifting capacity” based upon what other lift distributors are advertising. Many times the Chinese manufacturers overrate their lifts to gain market share in other countries. The Chinese testing standards and the USA testing standards are NOT the same!
RLC (The Dover Corporation) performs extensive testing on each of its four post and two post lifts to guarantee that the rated capacity of the Atlas and Direct lifts far exceed their advertised lifting capacities. The tests are performed in Madison, Indiana and in the Asian factory.
We still get a big chuckle when we see one of our competitors advertising a 10,000 lb. four post hobbyist lift for $1995; and it IS SMALLER than our 8,000 LB. PP-8 S (Standard).

Our factory was recently purchased by the Dover Corporation. The Dover Corporation has begun to implement some changes to improve the design, quality, and overall appearance of all our Atlas and Direct lifts.
The new Direct Lift Pro Park 8S has the same “lock ladder” column design system as the Pro Park 8 Plus, Pro Park 9 Plus, and Atlas 14K. We believe that the lock ladder system is the safest locking system for any four post lift. The lock ladder system also provides an infinite number of runway locking positions. The “old-style” welded locks could not be adjusted. The lock ladder is adjustable inside the column so that our customers can “micro-manage” the correct runway height to accommodate any vehicle. The “lock ladder” column system is the same column system found on professional grade lifts found in car dealerships and automotive service centers.
This Pro Park 8S locking system offers a unique two position locking mechanism found only in commercial grade cable style four post lifts. The DOUBLE LOCK SAFETY SYSTEM is found exclusively on the Direct Lift Pro Park 8S,Direct Lift Pro Park 8 Plus, Direct Lift Pro Park 9 Plus, and the Atlas Pro 14K.
The Direct Lift Pro Park 8S incorporates the unique DOUBLE LOCK SAFETY SYSTEM into each of its four oversized columns. The DOUBLE LOCK SAFETY SYSTEM is designed to ensure that if a lifting cable becomes slack (for any reason), the secondary locking mechanism automatically engages. This DOUBLE LOCK SAFETY SYSTEM is found only on other four post above ground lifts costing hundreds of dollars more than the Direct Lift Pro Park 8S.
Greg Smith Equipment and the Dover Corporation are proud to announce that many of our two post and four post lifts manufactured in our off shore factory (after 08-01-07) have flow restrictor valves installed in the hydraulic system. Some lifts do not require a flow restrictor.
The Pro Park 8S has manual single point release that allows the operator to release all the safety locks at one time. The Pro Park 8S does not need to be anchored to the floor. There are anchoring holes in the column bases so that you may anchor the lift to the floor. If you are using a four post above ground hoist many times each day, we recommend “lagging” down at least two of the columns. Our Pro Park 8S, Pro Park 8 Plus, and our Pro Park 9 Plus do not need to be anchored to the floor. However, if you are using this lift to raise several vehicles during the day, then the lift may “scoot” a little on a smooth concrete floor. All four post hoists (Including the Direct Lift four post lifts and all other competitor’s four post lifts) will move slightly on a smooth concrete floor if there is a constant flow of vehicles on and off the lift. The stability and integrity of the lift will not be compromised by the slight “scooting” of the four post lift. To eliminate the possibility of any “scooting”, we recommend you anchor (with just one anchor) two of the column bases to your concrete floor. This anchoring will prevent the lift from “scooting”.
In a concerted effort to improve customer awareness as to the correct operation of our two post and four post above ground lifts. The Dover Corporation and RLC are affixing the ANSI (ALI/101S) safety labels to our Atlas and Direct above ground vehicle lifts (after 08-01-07). These ANSI (ALI/101S) safety labels help to alert the operator as to certain potential dangers that may exist in the normal operation of the lift.
The Direct Lift Pro Park 8S comes standard with a powerful 110 volt power unit.
Most of our above ground lift customers install their own car lifts. The average time to assemble the Direct Lift Pro Park 8S car lift is four hours.
Manufactured in a 100% American owned offshore factory. Sold by a 100% American owned distributor that has been in the lift business for 27 years. Enough said.
We have service technicians available (during normal business hours: M-F) to answer any questions you have about the installation of our two post or four post above ground lifts.
Greg Smith Equipment stocks a complete inventory of lift parts for all the lifts we sell. Lift
parts and technical support personnel can be found at all three of our locations.
RLC (the owner of Direct Lifts) maintains a fully stocked parts warehouse in Madison, IN.
Certain competitors do not stock the lifts they advertise and do not stock any of the lift parts or accessories. Lifting a car is serious business.

Question: How much ceiling clearance will I need to stack my cars?
Answer: The rule of thumb is to add the height of your vehicles together, then add 7" to that total.
Formula: vehicle on bottom + vehicle on top + 7" = TOTAL amount of clearance you will need. (vehicle on bottom cannot exceed 67" in total height)
